Filling out puppy adoption papers. Mailing adoption agencies.

Sometimes it’s a little daunting to fill out all these answers and read all these guidelines, but I just remind myself that it’s a good sign: they want to find a good home for the pup, too.

I’m going to have a pug baby or pug-mix baby. I am so excited and have been reading more dog training books than ever (I read quite a few when we got Jean-Luc).

I still don’t know if the dog will be a male or a female, because I’m not really concerned with the sex. If I couldn’t say “no preference,” I listed female as first choice and male as a second. I honestly don’t care though. Just like I don’t care about how the dog looks—I just want it to be healthy and happy.

Tuesday I’m sitting in on a meeting with presidents of engineering and manufacturing companies so that I can play translator for the day.

I should be really excited about this as it marries my two degrees together, but part of me thinks that I should run into the woods and die of exposure before this happens. Too bad it’s not cold enough out. :’(

Also, sometimes I randomly think about that “Star Trek”-themed party my parents had. The kids were all banned to the upstairs, but my cousin Erik and I sneaked back down the stairs to sneak a peak. They had a CD going with the ST music and everything, and it wasn’t even close to Halloween.

I was so curious because earlier in the week my mother had confiscated this toy doctor bag that I had and all of it’s tools. She painted over the Fisher Price logo or whatever was on the front of it with the Starfleet Division Badge, because she was cosplaying Beverly Crusher. She also dyed her hair pretty red, which bewildered us kids because my mom hates being a ginger.

Sometimes I still wonder what they were doing as it seemed to not have a point.

ETA: Nowadays my mom swears that it was a Halloween party. Everyone was too scantily clad for it to have been October. Plus, none of the kids were out in the yard playing in the leaves and getting ticks.

Random, but the only way that I’ll post a lot and not delete them within an hour is when I’m drinking.

So I had something to say about Riker again.

He’s just sitting there staring at the closed blinds and waiting. If he even hears a leaf rustle, he starts whining and barking in the hopes that it’s mom or the step-dad coming home.

Part of me finds this really annoying. That’s really petty, but mini schnauzers’ barks are really irritating. Another part of me just melts inside, because that’s really cute.

I always know if one of them is really coming home by watching Jean-Luc. He’ll either a) continue whatever random thing he’s doing, or b) look at Riker like, “Why did you just do that, Billy?”

Low Fat Raw Vegan Chili

Ingredients:

1-2 large tomatoes

3 med. sized carrots

3 stalks celery

1 green bell pepper

1 medium zucchini

1/2 white onion

1 inch piece of minced ginger

4-6 dates

1/4 cup dulse

1 fresh sage leaf

1 sprig oregano

4-6 fresh basil leaves

1/2 tbs cumin

1/2 tbs paprika

1/2 lime juiced

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a food processor and pulse to desired consistency.

Optional ingredients include garlic, soaked almonds, and raw olives.
